Medicare Drug Plans

A Medicare Part D plan is prescription drug coverage offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare to help beneficiaries pay for their medications.

  • You must have either Medicare Part A, Part B, or both.

  • Under certain circumstances you could be subject to a penalty if you do not enroll into a drug plan when first eligible

  • Medicare recommends reviewing your drug plan yearly because the contracts between the private companies and Medicare are renewed on an annual basis which could cause changes to your covered medications and your out-of-pocket costs.
